Our policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for ourselves and all our staff and students and to provide such information, training and supervision as they need for this purpose.
We also accept responsibility for the health and safety of other people who may be affected by our activities. It is the responsibility of all staff to help maintain the safety and security of the students and the working and dancing environment. This includes being aware of the risks, knowing the appropriate action to take and identifying any potential safety issues. Each member of the staff within the organisation has a duty to exercise care and attention with regard to their own safety and that of their students.
Under this responsibility, I will:
- Ensure reasonable care is taken during their work activities to avoid accidents or injuries to themselves, students and any other personnel within the building
- Observe all safety instructions and procedures set out by the venue
- Report all potential hazards affecting Health and Safety to the venue
- Report all accidents in the appropriate manner and record in the accident book.
All Equipment and rigging are professionally checked and safe.
I am fully insured for all parties, classes and lessons. Insurance & Liability Full Public liability and insurance certificates are available on request. I am insured through Cover4Instructor and Insure4sport.
I hold a current first aid qualification which is reviewed and updated every 3 years.
Unless there is good reason, First Aid should not be administered without the permission of the child’s parent or accompanying adult. A child cannot give consent. If the parent is not at the premises, we will try and make contact.
However, if a child is alone and seriously injured or unconscious, the situation will need to be dealt with immediately. Treatment will be given by a trained First Aider. I will always try to administer First Aid with another adult present. I will tell the child exactly what I am doing and why.
Please ensure that you let me know about any medical conditions, allergies and/or medication your child is taking.
Media consent and child safeguarding is taken extremely seriously.
The filming and taking of photographs during classes from outside the studio by parents, carers and other students is strictly prohibited. From time-to-time I may take group photographs of children for use on my website and Facebook. Your authorisation to use a photo or photos of your child within this context is therefore requested in accordance with Child Protection Act. Student names will not appear in any publicity. To respect your preferences, we would ask that you complete the form on the next page, and return it to me as soon as possible or email it to emilythedancer@hotmail.co.uk
PROPS – occasionally I use props to enhance your child’s dance experience. We will always make sure each child has a prop to use, and never single out children individually based on their performance or behaviour. The only exception when we would need to take a prop away, is when a child is endangering themselves or others. For example, children hitting themselves or others with a wand, strangling with scarves, waving props in other children’s faces, being destructive or throwing props at other children. In this instance, we will inform the parent and explain why we have had to take the prop away from your child.
Consent Signing this form will be deemed as consent to allow your child to participate in the activities outlined. Should circumstances change during the year, please notify me immediately.

Aerial hoops/silks, acrobatic arts and dancing can be physically strenuous. It is unsuitable for people who suffer from neck or back problems. It is mandatory that any relevant medical condition is stated prior to participation.
Students with little or no dancing experience are welcome, as are experienced dancers.
By completing this form, I confirm that I am over 18 years of age. If you are under 18 please get an appropriate adult to complete the form.
When taking up any new sporting activity where friction occurs, some bruising may result. This is possible and likely especially at the beginning when learning aerial hoop/silks and acrobatic arts.
It is a fantastic all over body workout; however, most people find that it takes a couple of weeks for your body to adapt to supporting weight on parts of your body where you wouldn’t normally support weight, for example, the back of your knees, or the inside of your thighs.
Please read the points above and confirm you agree to the points below by completing and submitting the form below.
I am aware of the possibility of bruising or injury due to the nature of Aerial and acro dancing.
I do not have a reason to believe that I have any medical conditions which makes Aerial and acro dancing an unsuitable activity for me.
I understand that whilst every effort is taken to ensure my safety during the lessons, Aerial and acro dancing is a sport like any other and there is always a possibility of getting hurt.
I understand that if injuries do occur, it is my responsibility and not the responsibility of my instructor. I will not hold them responsible.
I must participate in the warm up and cool down sessions provided.
I will be given details of the activities and health & safety procedures by the instructor and I am to ask any questions if in doubt or have not understood.
If at any stage I feel unable to perform due to injury or any other reason I must stop and inform the instructor immediately.
I have read and understood the terms and conditions.
I agree to listen to and abide by the instructions issued by my instructor at all times.
I agree not to invert without the supervision and permission of my instructor and before I have learnt spotting and dismount techniques.
I agree to the instructor being allowed to spot your child. Due to Covid- 19 I will wear the correct ppe if I have to spot at this time.
